Marion Fike, 54, manager of the Fairfield branch of the Hastings Production Credit Association for the past three years, died unexpectedly Thursday at his farm home southwest of Fairfield. He was about 54 years old.


Fike was born in Clay county and was a lifetime resident of the community. He graduated from Fairfield high school and farmed for a time before joining the staff of the Production Credit Association in the early 1930's and serving is a director as well as an employee.


Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Glenvil Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Fred H. Schwerin officiating and burial was in the Glenvil cemetery. The McLaughlin Funeral Home was in charge.


He was a member and served as secretary of the Fairfield Community Service Club.


He leaves his wife, Marie, sons. Marion Jr. of Hastings, Marlyn of Glenvil, two grandchildren and his brother, Ralph of Fairfield.

J. Marion Fike was born on Sept 8, 1910, to Samuel and Catherine Fike near Spring Ranch. He was baptized in infancy in the Methodist Church on March 25, 1956, was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Charles Miller. He passed away very suddenly Feb. 4, 1965 at his farm home at the age f 54 years, 4 months and 26 days.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1928. Following graduation he was engaged in farming near Fairfield. In the early thirties he was employed by the Clay County Farm Government Program.


On Jan. 25, 1936, he was united in marriage to Marie Ocker by Rev. F. S. Spaulding at Albion. The union was blessed with two sons, Marlyn Duane and Marion Jay.


In 1937 he became associated with the Hastings Production Credit Association which he served in various capacities until June 1961. At that time he became manager of the Fairfield branch office and the Superior contact office of the association.


He was a man dedicated to his work. As Mr. H. W. Frerichs, the president of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of Omaha, stated, "Marion served the Production Credit Association as a capable and conscientious director and officer. We are sure the many members with whom he worked will miss his good business judgment and his wise counsel. Their problems were his problems and regardless of how busy he may have been he took time to discuss them and assist with the development of a beneficial solution."


Marion was a man of sterling qualities, kind, patient and devoted to his wife and family. He was a member of the Fairfield Service Club and the Clay County Mutual Insurance Board.


He is survived by his wife Marie, two sons, two daughters-in-law,, two grandchildren, his brother, Ralph and his step=-father, E. W. Smith, born of Fairfield and a host of relatives and friends. His father and mother preceded him in death.


Funeral services were held Feb 8, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil with Rev. F. Schwerin in charge.


A quartet composed of Mrs. Donald Harms, \ Mrs. Rolland Kahman, Mr. Albert Ellermeier, and Mr Virgil Fredericks, sang.


Pallbearers were Warnd Snow and Paul Hupf of Hastings, Rolland Daum, Gerald Palmer, Albert Nejezchleb and Theodore Pomeroy all of Fairfield.


Interment was the Glenvil Cemetery with the McLaughlin Funeral Home in charge.
