Married Jane Clark on November 11, 1829 in Schenectady County, New York. They migrated to Kaneville, Kane County, Illinois in 1848 and farmed there for several years. In 1854, Thomas, Jane and family moved to Iowa, settling in Benton County. Thomas & Jane were the parents of 11 children:
John Clark; Martin Luther; Jane Ann; Martha Sophia; Seymour C., Thomas Jefferson; Archibald Todd; Louis Phillip; Charles Oscar; Lourinda Amelia and Hendrick Akers.

Thomas served in Co. A - 37th Regiment Iowa Infantry
(Graybeards Regiment)
