W. Brad Kimbrough was the son of William Porter Kimbough and his 2nd wife, Juda Wann. He was married to Ethelene Carden who had just died three years earlier, 6 April 1910. Three of their children died as infants; the baby, Willie Lee, died three months after Ethelene.

Brad's siblings were John Lee, Sallie (Weber), Callie Lillie, Eliza (Carden), Lucy (Stamper), Nellie (Alford.) He also had two half siblings, Nora (Lillard) and Ira, from his father's 1st marriage to Hannah Smith.

Brad was killed at the age of 33, by an explosion of dynamite which he was holding in his hand at his place of employment at a rock crusher during the construction of the Ocoee No 2. Hydro Plant on the Ocoee River at Parksville. Three other men were hurt in the accident, but recovered. It was reported that lightning struck the dynamite causing it to explode.
