Born in Gentilly in 1883, she was the 5th child of Fabien Regimbal and Salome LaBerge, and the first of the family to be born on American soil. Just the year before her birth, the family emigrated from St-Louis-de-Gonzague, Qc to make a home in Minnesota.
When she was 14 years old, "Denise" traveled West with her family to the Yakima Valley in Washington.
In Moxee, she took her vows in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Diocese of Yakima, and became Sister Joanna with the Sisters of Providence. There, her first duty was to teach the children of that small community.
She died in Seattle in 1969. I do not know where she is buried, but welcome any information about her. - M Fortier
