Heinrich Friedrich Daniel Bode was the son of Friedrich Carl Daniel Bode and Anna Margaretha Louise Haferkamp.
Henry Bode was baptized July 18, 1897, by Pastor G. Stricker at Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville, Washington County, Texas. His baptismal sponsors were his grandfather, Henry Haferkamp, and his two of his great-uncles, Daniel Imhoff and Henry Meyer. Henry Bode was confirmed April 5, 1912, by Pastor C. Wolff at St. Peter's Evangelical Church near West, McLennan County, Texas. His confirmation text was II Peter 1:19 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts".
Henry married Elfriede Blankenstein on Aug. 2, 1922, in Gerald, McLennan Co., Texas; Pastor John Link performed the marriage ceremony, and the witnesses were Paul Blankenstein and Anna Weissinger.
Henry and Elfriede Bode lived in McLennan County for the first 16 years of their marriage before moving to Penelope, in Hill County, Texas, where they lived one year. In 1940, Henry and Elfriede moved their family to Liberty County, Texas, to the Eastgate Community, where on February 6, 1942, they purchased a 129.54-acre farm.

SERVICES ARE HELD WEDNESDAY FOR H. BODE, 63

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the First Methodist Church for Henry F. Bode, who died Tuesday morning at 7:15 a.m. at Dayton Memorial Hospital. Rev. A. Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church of Dayton, was assisted by Rev. Faulk of Beaumont. Burial was in Magnolia Park Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Mr. Bode, 63, a resident of Dayton for the past 22 years, was engaged in farming. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elfriede Bode, and one son, Orvel Bode of Dayton; two daughters, Mrs. Marveline Smesny and Mrs. Lois King of Dayton; his mother, Mrs. Annie Bode of Elm Mott, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Grudziecki and Mrs. Emma Otto, of Elm Mott and Mrs. Hilda Witt of Houston; one brother, Carl Bode, of Elm Mott; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ira Flurry, John Hanel, Ray Whitman, Hugo Otto, Jr., Ted Banik, and Louis Smesny.
