Grace was born March 23, 1923 in the farm country of southeastern Idaho. She was the fourth of six children. She was a darling little girl, with beautiful blue eyes and a winning smile. After graduating from Sugar-Salem High School in 1940, Grace went on to Ricks college in Rexburg, Idaho.
Grace was an attractive girl and the beautiful woman. She was a compliment to her husband, Jim, whom she married in 1943 during World War II. The long months Jim was away were very lonely. While Jim was in Korea, Grace raised their first daughter while living in the apartment in her in-laws home in Pocatello. She took advantage of living in Pocatello by attending classes at Idaho State.
After being told by doctors she could not have more children, Grace gave birth to another daughter and a son. During Jim's long Air Force career, Grace was a devoted loving mother and avid homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, although it was grueling at times. She became the hub for family communications, keeping relatives in contact no matter where she was located at the time.
Grace was very supportive of her children, attending PTA meetings, allowing each child to participate in Scouting, sports as well as social activities. She was a listener and a peacemaker. Although Grace had suffered the tragic loss of siblings, as well as had to pack up and move every two years, she maintained a positive attitude. She preferred to think well of someone until proven wrong. She enjoyed her own social affairs, joining a bridge club, charitable organizations, and later working in housing services at Fort Lewis. Grace enjoyed books and music and was an excellent cook. She was close to her mother, Mary, always, entertaining her and other family members in many locations around the USA.
Grace passed away at an early age of forty-nine from high blood pressure. She and Jim would have been married almost thirty years. Her memory will be cherished always by her children and those who had the privilege of knowing her.
