The Dublin Metropolitan Police.

He was killed on Monday 24th April 1916, the first day of the Easter Rising of 1916, at 12 noon, at St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. He was hit three times before he fell. He was taken to the Meath Hospital where he died.

Son of Michael Lahiff and Catherine Lahiff, formerly Nestor, of Kilcarrah, Ennistymon, Co. Clare.

He was 28 years old and had been a member of the force for 5 years.

In the 1911 census, Michael was enumerated at Kevin Street Police Barracks.
He was recorded as being 23 years old, born in Co. Clare, and was a Farmer before enlisting.

Death Certificate.
Michael Lahiff, aged 28, a Constable in the Dublin Metropolitan Police, of the DMP Barracks, died at the Meath Hospital Dublin on 24 April 1916. He died 30 minutes after admission.
The cause of death was a bullet through both lungs and left arm.
His death was registered by a member of the hospital staff in 11 May 19816.
