Mr. Spells was a retired employe of Missouri Pacific Railroad and a veteran of World War II. A native of Felsenthal, [Ark.], he had lived in Caldwell Parish for 15 years, and was a member of Banks Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Minnie Spells of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda McClary of Shreveport; three sons, B. J. Spells of Columbia, Virgil Spells of Schriever, and Bobby Jones of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Nelms of Pasadena, Tex., and Mrs. Myrtle B. Hodge of Houston, Tex.; one brother, David Spells of Felsenthal; and six grandchildren.
