formerly of Clarksburg, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
He was born in Meadowbrook, WV on June 20, 1937, a son of the late Walter Clark, Sr. and Vergie (Johnston) Clark.
Surviving is his wife, Verna (Campbell) Clark, whom he married on July 1, 1961; two sons and two daughters, Julie Clark, Crescent Springs, KY, Tom Clark and his wife Diane, Tucson, AZ, Tim Clark and his wife Deborah, New York City, NY and Amy Scheren and her husband Brian, Westerville, OH; one brother, Walter Clark, Jr., Hepzibah, WV; and ten grandchildren, Isaiah, Ryan, Taylor, Kristen, Jared, Olivia, Sam, Christopher, Mackenzie and Riley.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Wilfong; and two brothers, Ronald Clark and Stephen Clark.
Mr. Clark was a 1955 graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg, WV and held degrees from Fairmont State University and Xavier University in Ohio.
He was a high school and college teacher and coach for over 40 years.
He also spent 25 years in Christian education in Ohio, including founding Landmark Christian School in Cincinnati, OH in 1973. Mr. Clark was a faithful member of various Baptist churches his entire life.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2-5 p.m. Sunday where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2010 with Pastor Jason McClanahan presiding.
Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Taylor County.
