Leona Parker (1919 - 2010)

Leona "Granny" Cecile Parker, 91, entered into rest Monday, July 26, 2010.

Born on January 30, 1919 to the late Leon M. and Mary Frances Anderson Antone, she retired from LB Price Mercantile after 33 ½ years of faithful service. Mrs. Parker was a charter member of Leonard Street Church of Christ. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and God.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl Antone, Marion A. Antone, Harold C. Antone and Adrian Antone; sister, Clarice McDonald; children, Charles E. Emmons, Mary Lucille Merritt and Barbara Hardy; grandsons, Kevin E. Emmons, Sr. and Frank Merritt.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Frank (Doris) Emmons, Donald (Nina) Emmons, Wayne (Barbara) Emmons and Allen (Beverly) Emmons; son-in-law, Danny (Pat) Hardy; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren; sister, Doris Rogers, many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Ruth Antone; special friends, Leatha Hobbs and Aleathia Lackey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at PENSACOLA MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Leonard Street Church of Christ with Minister Barry O'Dell conducting the service.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Parker's grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are John Heflen, Billy Morris, Dale McCalab, W. C. Raburn, Brian McCowen and Charles Decker.

Special thanks are extended to Billy and Kim Morris for their loving support and friendship and to Dr. David Sheppard for the care given to Mrs. Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Escambia Christian School in memory of Leona Cecile Parker.
