Funeral services for prominent Athens businessman Don W. Terry, who died Friday, will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Grady T. Wigley officiating. A resident of 740 Milledge Circle, Terry was 42 and president of Terry Development Corp. and of Terry Inc. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the T. Huntington Abbott Rod and Gun Club and the Athens City Club, along with employees of Terry Development Corp.

Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Diana B. Terry: daughter, Miss Martha Ashford Terry; son. Don Wilson Terry Jr.: brother, Dennis Terry; and a niece and a nephew.

Terry was active in the Young Presidents Organization, was zone chair¬man for Ducks Unlimited, president elect of the administrative board of St. James United Methodist Church. trustee of St. James Church. president of the Aldersgate Sunday School class. a member of the Association of General Contractors of America, the T. Huntington Abbott Rod and Gun Club, the Athens City Club, the Sand Hills Club of Augusta-Athens and the Athens Country Club. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Athens YMCA. the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, the Athens Federal Savings and Loan, east president and member of the Athens Touchdown Club and a trustee of Athens Academy. He was a member of SIgma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs. Doyle Terry and lived in Athens most of his life and was a graduate of The Darlington School in Rome and the University of Georgia.

Some of the better known construction projects completed by Terry's firm include the remodeling of First American Bank downtown and the First National Bank on Prince Avenue. His firm also constructed the buildings at Athens Academy, Homewood Shop¬ping Center. Green Acres Shopping Center, Wilkins Industries office building and warehouse, Sardis Bapti~t Church in Hartwell. Jackson EM.C s new building. Grandview Nursing Home and St.. Gregory the Great Epistcopal Church.

At the University of Georgia, Terry's firm was responsible for the renovation of Conner Hall, the Health Services building. The Public Safety building and the Fine Arts building.
Terry Development also constructed housing projects in Jefferson and Winder and it was involved in a large number of school projects in Northeast Georgia.

The new Number One Fire Station downtown was also a project of Terry Development.
