Cleo Evans Russell, 72, of Clinton, died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Mrs. Russell was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton. She was born April 11, 1925, in Claiborne County, the daughter of G.D. and Hassie Evans. She was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband, James Russell; two daughters, Alene Russell of Clinton and Paulette Duggins and her husband, John, of Andersonville; and two sons, William Russell and his wife, Letha, of Clinton, and Kenneth Russell and his wife, Sue, of Ringgold, La. She is also survived by a sister, Effie McNew and her husband, Ben, of Clinton; two brothers, Edward Evans and his wife, Virginia, of Middlesboro, Ky., and Everette Evans and his wife, Joan, of Claxton; seven grandchildren, Derek, Chad, Emily, John and Amanda Russell, and Polly Ann and Robert Duggins; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, May 5, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. George Williams officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
