Enlisted in the 49th PA Volunteer Infantry on 12 Sep 1861 at age 18, Co. "F"; later to Co. "C". Discharged 15 Jul 1865. Died at Moore's Station, PA, of natural causes long afte the war.

Burial of a Lieutenant

The funeral of Charles Hobson, late lieutenant of Company A, D. V. M., took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence No. 1125 West Third street. It was largely attended and the services were very impressive. Services were held over the remains by the Rev. W. L. S. Murray of Asbury M. E. Church, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Broadhart of Moore's Station, near Philadelphia, where the deceased breathed his last. The militia attended the funeral in force. They were in command of Colonel Wood and Major Curtis, and preceded by the Delaware Band marched in the following order: Company A, Captain Mitchell, 33 men; Company C, Captain Wickersham, 40 men; Company F, Captain Munda, 20 men Wilmington Council, Jr. O. U. A. M., of which the deceased was a member, also attended the funeral and three members each from the militia and council acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in Riverview Cemetery.
