Violet Virginia was born to Gabriel Louis & Martha "Mattie" Josephine Barrette St. Germain in Gays Mills, Crawford Co. WI. Grandparents were Charles & Emily Jane Dousman Barrette. Great-grandparents were Hercules Dousman & Margaret Campbell - of Prairie du Chien, WI. Her only sibling was sister - Emily Marie St. Germain. Neither of the girls married. The family located to Georgetown, Georgetown Co. SC where their father gained employment at the Atlantic Coastal Lumber Co. Both girls attended Business School and became bookkeepers at local establishments. Each received "Woman of the Year" Awards in appreciation for their contributions to their city of Georgetown. Although members of the local Catholic Church, the entire family is interred at All Saints Episcopal Church Cemetery on Pawleys Island - 70 miles North of Charleston.
