OBITUARY:

Ethel Thomas, 86, died May 26, 2006 at the Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor where she had been a resident for six years. She was born in Hampden on July 31, 1919, the daughter of Ronald E. and Ethel (Hammond) Dexter.

Ethel lived in Hampden, Newburgh, Youngstown, Ohio and Bangor at different times in her life, but Newburgh is where she lived while raising her two children and is the place she always called home. She was a hair-dresser by trade.

She is survived by her son Stephen and daughter-in-law, Margaret. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Warren, her daughter, Ann, and her 2nd husband, Charlie Thomas.

At her insistence, there will be no funeral. A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday May 30, 2006 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Knowlton Cemetery in Newburgh, where she will be laid to rest with, Ann, Warren and Charlie.

If she could have, she would have hugged and kissed all of the wonderful and loving caregivers on the B unit of the Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor before she left. Her final years were so much more pleasant because of all of you.
