"John Raymond Charles, son of Aldus M. and Mrs. Clara Charles, died at his home No. 711 Columbia avenue, on Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock after a lingering illness since last November. During the winter he underwent two operations in Philadelphia, which only afforded temporary relieve. He was aged 18 years, 4 months and 1 day and is survived by his parents and two sisters Elizabeth and Marian and one brother, Mylin, at home.
He was a young man of rare promise and marked ability as a violinist. In the spring, 1913 he enter F. & M. Academy; was a member of the Glee club and won a large circle of friends.
On April 4, 1909 he was confirmed in the Reformed church in Conestoga Centre and since last October was a member of St. Paul's Reformed church this city.
The funeral services will be held at the home of his parents on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in Greenwood cemetery."
