MARION - Joe L. Abbott, 80, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Born in Dillon County, SC, October 24, 1929, he was the son of the late John Abbott and Lillian Lane Bailey. He was a member of Latta Baptist Church, and retired from Dixiana Mill after 38 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Abbott of Marion; daughters, Ellen (Michael) Hearne of Florence and Joanne (Bobby) Buchanan of Garden City; son, James (Kathy) Abbott of Kailua, Hawaii, step daughters, Sylvia (Mike) Bass of Dillon and Barbara (Chris) Bridges of Little River; step-sons, Jerry Beckwith of Dillon and Mitchell (Joann) Beckwith of Warsaw, NC; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Abbott.
