SOUTH BEND - Irvin O. Stephens, 76, of Central Avenue, died at 2 a.m. today in his home after an illness. Mr. Stephens retired as manager of Advanced Schools Inc. (ASI) after more than 20 years of service. He was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Marion, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1940, coming from Marion. On Oct. 26, 1940, in Marion, he married Martha J. Stephens. She survives, with two daughters, Karen Swanson of South Bend and Connie Wagner of South Bend; four grandchildren; two sister, Gertrude Wilson of Fort Wayne and Virginia Cantwell of St. Paul, Minn.; and a brother, Leo Bowser of Marion.
Private services will be held. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
