Henry BARNEY, age 18 years, enrolled as a private in Capt. BILL's Co., 7th Regiment Wisconsin Infantry at Lodi, Columbia County, Wisconsin on 12 June 1861. He was wounded in the knee 1 July 1863 at Gettysburg, Pa.; spent some time in the hospital; returned to active duty and was captured, 19 October 1863, at the battle of Haymarket, Va.; he was imprisoned on Belle Island, Andersonville, and Florence, S.C.; and was paroled and discharged 28 March 1865. On 15 August 1882, Henry C. BARNEY, aged 42, of Polk Co., Wisconsin made a declaration for a Civil War Pension and described his injuries and imprisonment at Andersonville prison during the Civil War. See Pension Records SC.246,505.
On 13 Sept. 1890, Henry C. BARNEY, aged 47, a resident of Mulhall, Logan Co., Oklahoma made declaration for a pension. Pension Records SC.246,505.
On 15 January 1898, Henry C. Barney declared that his wife's full name was Mary KIRKEBRIDE BARNEY and that her maiden name was Mary KIRKEBRIDE; that they were married 28 August 1880 at Eagleville, Mo.; that he was previously married to Mary Ann PASCO who died 3 July 1872 at Clarence, Missouri; that he had one living child, Lillie BARNEY, born 3 May 1881, and one adopted child, Fanny May BARNEY, twenty years old.
