He enlisted in the 22nd Massachusetts Infantry, Company H as a private. At enlistment he gave his occupation as a clerk. Enlistment gives his age as 20 and birth year as 1843. His marker lists his birth year as 1845.
He died at Camp Parole, from Libbey Prison, at Annapolis, Maryland.
