Anna Bringman Chilton Times August 29, 1914

AT A VENERALBE AGE - PIONEER WOMAN OF RANTOUL DIES
Mrs. Frederick Bringman, one of the pioneer women of the town of Rantoul, passed away on the old homestead farm in that town, on Thursday, Aug. 20th at the age of seventy-nine years.
Anna Justina Wandrey was born at Neuendorf, Bromberg, West Prussia, Germany, Aug. 28, 1835. In 1851 she came with her parents to America, locating at Menasha. She was married April 1, 1856 in that city, to the late Frederick Bringman and they remained there until the fall of 1859, when they moved onto a tract of woodland which they purchased in the town of Rantoul. Like all of the pioneers of these days, they began the struggle to clear the heavy forest and build a home. In this work Mr. Bringman was ably assisted by his wife and companion in every way possible. Their united efforts were crowned with success and in their declining years they enjoyed the fruits of their labor and spent many happy days on the homestead farm which they had cleared and shaped into a productive farm. On Dec. 2, 1908, Mr. Bringman died and since that time she has made her home with her son. Mrs. Bringman enjoyed fairly good health until about a year ago when she began to suffer from a tumor. Everything possible that medical skill could do to give her relief was done but to no avail and she gradually grew worse until death came.
During her last hours she seemed to be pleased to go to join her husband and other loved ones who had gone before. Up to the last moment she retained her mental faculties and previous to her death partook of a breakfast, shortly afterwards passing peacefully away.
She is survived by Augusta, William, Fred and Ernst Bringman of Rantoul; Mrs. Anna Jesse of Antigo; Mrs. Emily Reise of Malone; Mrs. Ida Pingel of South Stockbridge; Mrs. Ella Crawford of Richland Center and Mrs. Lydia Thiel of Wayside. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, and four brothers, Gust. Wandrey, John Wandrey, Fred Wandrey and August Wandrey.
