Myrtle (Kramer) Streine died on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. She was born on March 4, 1906, the daughter of John Frederick "Fritz" and Mary Caroline "Carrie" (Herkenhoff) Kramer.
In 1934, she married Frank Berndt Streine of New Bremen, and he preceded her in death in 1970.
She is survived by her children and her "outlaws," as she fondly called them, Carolyn Myrtle and Lloyd Kropp, Frank Frederick and Dorothy Streine, Catherine Streine and Joan Rafter Hartford; her grandchildren, Frank Edward and Lori Streine, Richard Paul and Sherri Streine, Mary, Bridget and Matthew O'Brien, Stephen Jeremy Kropp, Alexander and Heidi Kropp; great-grandchildren, Jamie and Nicholas Streine, T.J. and Keegan O'Brien.
She was a 1928 graduate of St. Mary's College of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. She was a teacher at Minster High School.
She traveled extensively overseas on business with her husband and provided a warm, hospitable home for her family, friends and international guests. She lived in Pompano Beach, Fla. for 25 years and again provided a welcoming home for visiting family and many friends. God answered her prayers and took her home at the age of 104. She was always a loving mother and a lady with intelligence, wit and charm. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at N.J. Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
