A.T. Hensey Of D.C. Real Estate Firm Dies In California
Alexander Thomas Hensey, connected with the firm of Swartzell, Rheem & Hensey Company, 727 15th Street, for thirty years, died suddenly yesterday in Pasadena, California. He was fifty-eight years old and had an apartment in the Dresden.
Mr. Hensey was a native of this city and had been in many position of prominence. He was proprietor of the old Sunday Herald, a weekly newspaper that thrived here many years ago. He also was financial clerk in the city post office for several years under Postmaster Tulloch.
He entered the real estate business about thirty years ago, when the firm was known as B.H. Warner & Co. After a period of faithful service he became one of the heads of the firm which was incorporated under the name by which it is known today.
He retired from active work about a year ago, although still remaining one of the firm. He left for California the early part of November where he expected to spend the winter. His death was a great shock to the personnel of the real estate office, for although his health for the past year had not been very good, it was not thought that he was in a serious condition. A letter had been received from him a few days ago stating that he would leave soon for San Diego.
Surviving him are a wife, who was formerly Miss Lula Rheem of this city and a son, Clarence A. Hensey. The body will arrive here Sunday, and funeral services will be held later at St. Margaret’s Church. Mr. Hensey was a member of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion, director of the District Title Insurance Company and vestryman of St. Margaret’s Church.
