William Bogard Ragains and Ellender "Ellen" (McKee) Ragains came from Loudon County Tennessee in a covered wagon around 1880 and settled in the Upton Community, Texas Co., MO. According to the Texas Co. MO history book their children were: Nancy, John, Alfred, Tom, Rachael, Mary, Martha, James Lewis, Susan and Amanda all born in Tennessee. Those born in Missouri were Adeline, David, Julie. A story in the Texas County history book about Ray and Grace Ragain says they had 15 children but only 13 are listed in previous story above.

William Bogard was a missionary Baptist preacher. He and Ellender were charter members of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church.
