Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Zellen Benson Spilman, were held Wednesday afternoon at the home on Second Street. The Rev. Ira Moats officiated. "In the Garden" and "under His Wing" were sung by Mrs. Robert Simkins, and Mrs. Grace Morgan. Casket bearers were Loren Rambo, Della Vice, Harry Harper, Haskel D. Sulteen, T. F. Gooding, and F. G. McCombs.

Although Mrs. Spilman had been in poor health for over a year, her passing was unexpected. She suffered a stroke early Sunday evening and passed away a few hours later. The many sprays of beautiful flowers gave mute testimony to the love and respect of her many friends.

Relatives and friends attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Lafferty and daughter Florence, of North Baltimore, Ohio, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Lafferty of Cincinnati, O., Mr. and Mrs. Homer Spilman, Mr. and Mrs. George Spilman, Mr. and Mrs. Judson Benson, Mrs. George M. Phillips, of Galesburg. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Miller of Victoria, Mrs. Edith Morse of Hermon and Mr. and Mrs. Harley Scudder of Knoxville.

Rose Zellen Benson Spilman was born Aug. 10 1860, and passed away July 2, 1939, at her home in Maquon, Il. She was married Dec. 23 1880 to William Spilman in Galesburg, and to this union were born ten children, namely Homer and George of Galesburg; William, who lives west of Maquon; Robert of Maquon; James wo residence is unkown; Mrs. Mary Sleight and Mrs. Kate Vice of Maquon; Mrs. Delilah Lafferty of North Baltimore, Ohio; Mrs. Rosalie Farrell of gilson, and Mrs. Gene Halsey of Delong. Besides herchildren she leaves 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild;; two brothers, Judson of Galesburg and George of Oakland, Cal, and a host of friends to mourn her death. Mrs. Spilman had lived her entire life in Maquon, Il.
