After high school, he went to Tulsa Business College then went to work for the state highway department for a few years. Forrest joined the U.S. Army in 1940. After the service, he lived in Illinois for a short time where he worked for Atkins Oil then returned back to Oklahoma where he worked for Texaco in Tulsa for a few years. After Texaco, he worked for Chouteau Elevator. He and Fern Purcell were married on July 11, 1953 in Claremore. They made their home in Chouteau where Forrest got into the real estate business. He started his own real estate company, Anders Realty. He was a real estate agent and broker and bought and sold property all over Mayes County. He was one of the major contributing developers in the Chouteau Hills Estates property. He had a very successful 45 year career in real estate and had never really retired. He liked hunting and fishing but he loved traveling with his daughter all over the world. In 1997 they traveled to Alaska and in 1998 and 1999 they visited the Holy Land. They also went all over the U.S. to the 66 Troup Carrier Squadron reunions where he got to visit with his fellow Air Force servicemen.

He was a member of the Chouteau Presbyterian Church for 85 years. Forrest was very active in his community and will be missed by all of his beloved friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two wives, Fern and Margaret.
