TABLE ROCK ARGUS, July 6, 1934. (pg.1)

Daughter of Thomas W. and Julia Conklin, was born in Wayne county, Pa., December 15, 1861. Passed away at her home in Endicott June 30, 1934, aged 72 years, 6 months and 17 days.

Early in March, 1879, she came with her parents and other members of the family to make their home in Nebraska. On September 10, 1879, she was married to Olin W. Griffing at Clear Creek, Nebr. To this union were born two sons, Winford, of Billings, Mont., and Lawrence of Lincoln. When a child she became a member of the Methodist church at Arlington, Pa., transferred her membership to Clear Creek, Nebr., then to Table Rock and later to Endicott. She was president of the Ladies Aid when the church at Table Rock was remodeled; was a member of the Missionary society, the Women's Relief Corps, Degree of Honor and Order of the Eastern Star.

But her chief interest centered in her home and her husband and sons hold sacred her memory.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and two sons, two sisters, Mrs. F. H. Taylor of Table Rock and Mrs. F. W. Runnion of Bird City, Kan., besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Friends and relatives of Mrs. Mattie Griffing were shocked to learn of her death which came to her at her home in Endicott on Saturday morning. She had been in poor health for some time and had taken treatment at the Pawnee hospital, but had returned to her home.

Word was also received that burial would be at Table Rock where a mausoleum had been erected for her and her husband. Mr. Griffing and his son, Lawrence came on the afternoon train and arranged for funeral services. They had lived in Table Rock for many years, going from here to Endicott twelve years ago.

Funeral services were held at Endicott Sunday and the remains were brought to Table Rock by a Fairbury undertaker for services here. These took place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Arthur Embree. A male quartette rendered four favorite songs of the deceased. There was a mass of beautiful flowers, sent by sorrowing friends. Mr. Embree's service was full of compliments to the life of the deceased and helpful to the living. Among the mourners were the husband, two sons and two sisters. A brother, William A. Conklin, passed away in California July 2nd, 1933. Burial was made in Table Rock cemetery.
