Perry C. Bateson, Jr, age 92, of Jerry City, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday Feb. 11, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care center in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 2, 1920 in Wayne, Ohio to the late Perry C. & Zella (Pollard) Bateson, Sr. He married Virginia M. Simmons on February 23, 1946 and she passed away on October 19, 2005.
Perry retired from the Elmwood Schools where he was a custodian.
He served his country proudly during W.W. II in the Army.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren Church and was a former Jerry City Councilman.
He loved the outdoors especially hunting, trapping, fishing and enjoyed playing his steel guitar.
Surviving are sons, Richard (Vickie) Bateson of Cygnet, James (Erma) Bateson of Bowling Green; daughter, Susan (Tim) Young of North Baltimore; sister, Doris (Louie) Loe of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Patti, James Jr., Jason, Erica, Anne, Dezi, Patrick, Christina; 9 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Harold, Delton, Laurel & Gerald.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wed. Feb. 13, 2013 at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne and from 10-11 AM Thurs. Feb. 14, 2013 at Mt. Zion United Brethren Church where a Celebration of Life Service will start at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor Mark Ralph officiating. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Wood County Military Detail.
