Verna was raised and educated in California and graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1934. She then attended Henegar's Secretarial School in Colorado and graduated in 1936. Verna married James P. Morgan in 1952 in California and together they moved to Las Vegas, Nev. in 1954.
Verna was a secretary for the district attorney's office in Las Vegas until she retired. She moved to Montana to be closer to family in 2006. Verna loved gardening, reading and watching her grandchildren play sports. She also loved the Montana Grizzlies and the Dallas Cowboys.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James P. Morgan; her son, Bobby Morgan; and her sister, May Chisholm. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and John Crites of Hamilton; her brother, Gerald Vinson and family of Redmond, Wash.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
