He found us in Iowa City, Iowa late in August in 1995, when we think he was just over one year old. He had been abandoned by some college kids who brought him to school from their farm, then neglected to take him back when they left after the school year. He started following us home as we walked by his house. One day (August 27-28) when we were sitting on the front porch with him, listening to Everything But the Girl, we decided we should get married. We said to each other then "You know, now we have to keep this cat."
He was never really ours; we belonged to him. He brought an immeasurable amount of joy into our lives. He never lacked something to say, and he never neglected to show you how much he loved you by giving you a big, running, head butt, or a squeeze of the eyes. Our lives are smaller, and a little less exciting, without him.
Take care, little man....
