Elizabeth was born Sept.5,1818 in Paisley, Scotland, the daughter of John Smith and Janet Marshall. She was married in Perth, Ontario, on Apr.5,1842 to James Millar. James drowned in 1857 and Elizabeth married again on Dec.29,1869 to Robert Brown Millar. After his death, Elizabeth married a 3rd time to Philip James Shevlin on Aug.13,1875. Elizabeth died At McLaren's Depot near Snow Road on Apr.24,1903 and was buried with her 1st husband, James Millar.

Obituary - The Lanark Era - May 6,1903
Mrs. James Miller - Elizabeth Smith was born at Paisley, Scotland, September 5th, 1818 and came to Canada in 1821 with her parents, settling in North Sherbrooke Twp. On April 5th, 1842, she married James Miller, settling in Palmerston, Twp., Frontenac Co. Her husband drowned in 1857 while searching for bodies after the Crotch Lake Dam catastrophe. They had a family of seven children; Janet (Mrs. Jos. McVeigh) deceased; Mary ( Mrs. Alex. McDougal) deceased; Elizabeth (Mrs. Hugh McKinnon) at McLaren's Depot; John at Ompah; James, Thomas and William at McLaren's Depot. Burial Saturday, April 25th at Crawford's Cemetery.
