THELMA "GIGI" GLADYS MEEKS, loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on July 22, 2010. She was born to Rudolph Carl and Beatrice Cecilia Gissing (now deceased) on September 17, 1931 in Laredo, Texas. She married her beloved, Powell, on December 11, 1954, to whom she was married 47 years until he passed away January 22, 2002. She will always be remembered by all who knew her. She had three children, first born, Michael David who died in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Josie Gissing and Mabel Thurston and brother R.C. Gissing. She is survived by her beloved, only daughter, Marshia D. Franklin and her loving husband, John Paul, and first grandchild, Joshua Powell Franklin, her baby son, Mattheu D. and his sweet wife, Nikole and beautiful new grandson, Maxwell Powell Meeks; sister Elsie Smith; nephews LR and wife Melody, Rodney and wife Reagan, David Beadle; nieces Teri and husband James, Toni and Janet; and many cousins. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail in Houston. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
