" DIED On the morning of the 22 ult., at his residence on Miccosukie Lake, after a short but severe illness, MILES BLAKE, Esq., formerly of Wilmington, N.C.

Mr. Blake had spent the principal part of his life as an enterprising and successful merchant but had latterly adopted the more peaceful occupation of a planter. He was, with his father-in-law (Col. Parish), one of the earliest pioneers in the wilderness of Middle Florida, after the change of flags. In every department of life, both religious and social, his private character bore the well-marked impress of the strictest uprightness and the most unbending integrity. His virtues, as a man and a Christian, will be long remembered by those who knew him most intimately; while, to his surviving and sorrowing family, his loss will be irreparable."

[The Floridian, February 15, 1840]

DOCUMENTED MARRIAGES:
- Miles Blake of Fayetteville to Mary Parish, Nov. 26, Bladen county. Dec. 6, 1822
