From the "Elmer Times" June 29, 1917: "A very happy and rare occasion took place last week when the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. William H, Young gathered at their home on Main Street, Clayton, to help them enjoy and celebrate their sixty-sixth milestone of wedded happiness. Although they are both nearing the century mark, Mr. Young past his eighty-eighth year, and Mrs. Young her nintieth birthday, they are well and happy and are doing for themselves. The children went to the home carrying their baskets packed with many good things to eat and gifts to please the hearts of the old folks. It was a happy crowd that met at the dinner table with the aged father and mother, with the thought uppermost in their minds that many more happy occasions like that would be enjoyed. The nearest relatives were present with the exception of a grandson William Y. Leuallen, who is in Australia, and the families of Frank Tarpine of Pole Tavern, and Charles Martin of Elmer, they having sickness in the family. The company made a merry day and just before departing for their homes photographer Emmons came around and grouped the entire company on the lawn, then snapped the picture of five generations. Among the guests were: Samuel Lutz and wife of Glassboro; Thomas Young and wife and William Young and wife and children, Frances and William of Swedesboro; Charles Young and wife and three children, Elsie, Frank and Dorothy of Williamstown; Mrs Hannah S. Leuallen and son, Samuel Leuallen, wife and child, Master Emerson, of Cape May Court House; Earl Leuallen, of Bridgeton; Albert Dilks, wife and daughter Jeanette of Pitman; Blair Lawson, wife and daughter Margaret, of Clayton, little Margaret being the great great grandchild. At the evening time the guests departed leaving with them many pleasant memories for the aged couple to cherish through the coming years."
