Bob Monzingo, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2010, in Big Lake, Texas at the age of 80.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Charles Lindley officiating.

Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after 42 years. His passion for trains was outweighed only by his passion for woodworking. His birdhouses were featured on the Tumbleweed Smith radio show and displayed at the San Angelo Railroad Museum. He was happiest, however, when he was doing things for others, whether it was repairing furniture, building benches, or finishing a project.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Alma Monzingo, and his two brothers, Garland and Orville.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverne Monzingo of Lubbock; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Tammi Monzingo of Big Lake, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Rocky Rockwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, Christy Barnett of Merkel, Texas, Jeanie Smith of McRae, Arkansas, and Kyle Rockwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces nephews and cousins.
