RICHFIELD - Lucy Oleson Thurgood, 63, of Richfield, Utah, after a long, valiant, and graceful battle with cancer, passed away August 6, 2004, at her home.
She was born April 18,1941, in Ogden, Utah, to Orlin R. and Lolabell Garner Oleson. She married Carl J. Thurgood, September 9, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Lucy was active in the LDS Church where she served in various callings including: Temple ordinance worker, full time missionary with her husband in the Raleigh North Carolina Mission, and co-director of the Richfield Family History Center. Lucy loved writing, sports and being outdoors.
She is survived by her husband Carl, of Richfield; children, Seth (Tammy) Thurgood; Sandra (Glen) Skougard; Sonja (Mike) Patey, all of Richfield; Susan Thurgood, Roy; Shanon Thurgood, Ogden; eight grandchildren; sisters, LouJane (Don) England, Centerville; Gwen Burgin, Centerville; LaNett Ward, California; Isabell (Joe) Stringham, Bountiful; brother, Garner (Sherry) Oleson, Saratoga Springs.
Preceded in death by parents; sister, Elaine (Don) Brown; brother-in-law, Jay Ward.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Richfield 6th LDS Ward Chapel (800 N. 500 E.) Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary (50 S. 100 W.) on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Burial and Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the West Point City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield.
