ERIC LEE HORTON

Eric Lee Horton, 50, of Davenport, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 14th & Brady streets, Davenport. The Rev. George White and the Rev. Ron Carlson will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Center (at St. John's UMC) to further their food pantry, homeless street team ministry, SkateChurch and outreach programs.

Eric was born Aug. 30, 1959, in Moline, to Robert "Bob" and Elaine Horton. He graduated from Moline High School in 1979, attended Black Hawk College and currently was a student at Scott Community College.

He was a member of Riverside UMC in Moline, a Boy Scout, and Past Master Counselor of Chalmers J. Seymour Chapter, Order of DeMolay, Moline.

A welder by trade, Eric currently was employed by Honeywell/Norcross Safety Products in Rock Island. He enjoyed basketball and doing projects for family and friends.

Eric is survived by his parents, Bob and Elaine Horton, Moline; his sisters, Lynn (Chris) Warner, Coal Valley, Naomi (Brian) Copeland, Bettendorf; a niece, Blair Warner; nephews, Nicholas and Andrew Copeland; daughter, Christina Horton (Max) Loehrl and her children, Zachary and Alisha, of Camp Douglas, Wis.; son, Noah Lee Horton, Davenport; and daughter, Molly Horton, Davenport. He also is survived by aunts, B.J. Keegan, Coal Valley, and Marilyn Embry, Bellwood, Ill.; several cousins; and his best friend, Kevin Lucas. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Darwin and Wilma Wolfe, and Kenneth and Mary Horton.
