James Hawley married Martha Griffith on 22 June 1875 in Athens, Texas. He preceded her in death.

Martha Ann Hawley, 81, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.J. Bryant. She had been making her home with her son, R.A. Hawley at Padgett. She had come to Graham to visit with her daughter. Graveside services were officiated by J.F. Pursley, minister of the East Side Church of Christ.

Survived by two children - R.A. Hawley and Mrs. W.J. Bryant.
