Funeral services for Pfc. David C. Mehring, son of Mrs. Mary Mehring, Lumber street, Littlestown, and the late Claude E. Mehring, who was wounded in action and died in Normandy, June 17, 1944, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the J.W. Little and son funeral home, Littlestown. The service was in charge of his pastor, the Rev. David S. Kammerer, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel, Cemetery, Littlestown.
His remains had been buried in the U.S. Military cemetery, at LaCambe, France. His body arrived in New York, March 29, from Cherbourg, France, aboard the army transport John L. McCarley and in Littlestown on Friday morning.
