Mrs. Mary Francis Banta, 82, died Tuesday at 347 South Volutsia where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Eva Webb. She was born November 28, 1854, at West Tirberry (Tisbury), Martha's Vineyard, Mass., the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Jonathan Ellis Guild, Baptist missionaries.

She was one of a set of twin girls. Her twin, Martha Florence, lived until 1928. Mrs. Banta at an early age became a devoted member of the Baptist church and joined at Des Moines, Iowa, when she was 13. Throughout her life a great deal of her time and energy went into Christian activities. Her membership during the years at Wichita was in the Sunnyside Baptist.

She was married to Robert R. Wilkins in 1878. Three children were born, two of whom died in infancy. A son, Prof. Lawrence A. Wilkins, New York City, survives. Mr. Wilkins died in 1884.

She married the late Lafayette Banta, who died in 1920, in Holdredge, Neb., in 1890. The children by this marriage were Mrs. Webb, Wichita, and Rev. E. L. Banta, Tallula, Ill.

Besides the daughter and two sons she is survived by two brothers, Rev. Lewis T. Guild, Los Angeles, and Dr. W. A. Guild, Chicao; six step-children, children of Mr. Banta before his marriage to Mrs. Banta, Mrs. Grace Hall, Logan, Utah, Mrs. Minnie Champion and Mrs. Nellie Black, Green Valley, Ill., Mrs. Alta Schwartz, St. Louis, Miss K. A. Banta, Port Chester, N.Y., and Albert Banta, Normal, Ill., 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
