Ernest H. Cartwright, 69, passed away September 9, 1998 following a brief illness. Born in England, he moved to Jacksonville in 1957 and at the time of his death was an Inspector for the State of Florida, Agency For Health Care Administration. Mr. Cartwright served 22 years as a Medical Officer in the Royal Navy. He graduated from the University of North Florida, and was a co-founder and past President of the British-American Club of Jacksonville. He attended St. Johns Cathedral where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Dean Gustave Weltsek officiating. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Beryl Cartwright (nee Bowdler); 6 children, Anita (John) Veino of St. Augustine, Florida, Cheryl (Rusty) Greer of Jacksonville, Florida, Patricia (Scott) Ashton of Stoke-On-Trent, England, Robert Evans of Plymouth, England, Sandra (Billy) Green of Jacksonville, Florida and Michelle (Dwayne) Conner of Jacksonville, Florida; 3 brothers, Jack, Alan and Leslie Cartwright; 2 sisters, Joyce Butler and Christine Pearson; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
