ELMER AMSTUTZ DIED SUDDENLY

Elmer L., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob U. Amstutz in Wabash Tp., died quite suddenly Friday evening about 8 o'clock after suffering severely from headache. He had not been well since morning and complained of headache and decided not to attend school that day. He was up and around however, the greater part of the day, until evening when his ailment became more excruciating, until death relieved of his suffering. The cause of his death is not exactly known, but seems to have been some gathering in his head. It is reported that matter flowed from his nostrils after his death. Elmer Lima Amstutz was born November 17, 1894 and departed this life on February 16, 1911, bringing his age to 16 years, 2 months and 29 days. At a very early age he gave his heart to God. Several years later, on July 4, 1907, he was baptized and taken in as a member of the Missionary church at Berne. In fall of the same year he attended a missionary convention at Grabill, Allen County, and while there he decided that he would some time become a missionary in the foreign field, and he has always kept this aim in view. He was loved by all who knew him and was a very dutiful child at home or school, always thinking of others first, rather than of himself. He leaves to mourn his early departure, father and mother, seven brothers and three sisters, many relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Valley church near the Amstutz home, conducted by Rev. S. J. Grabill, of Berne.
