Ernest Edward Jackson - Ernest Edward Jackson was born Aug. 4, 1898 in St. Clair County, Mo., the son of Charles Clayborn Jackson and Rosella A. Stark Jackson. He died Feb. 11, 1989 at the Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Mo., at the age of 90. On April 17, 1923 he was united in marriage to Dortha Christina Holm. Except for a few years as a young man living in the state of Washington he lived his entire life in the Bates County area. Mr. Jackson was a farmer and a truck driver, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Adrian Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Bernie Jackson and one sister, Laura Rabourn. He leaves his wife of the home; four sons, Orville, Jackson and Charles Jackson, both of Butler, Gilbert Jackson of Adrian and Ronnie Jackson of Appleton City. Mo.; four daughters, Lucille H. West of Leavenworth, Kan., Margaret Fern Long of Bella Vista, Ark.; Christine B. Ryan and Eileen Smith of Concord, Calif.; two brothers, Carl Jackson of Archie, Mo., and Wesley Jackson of Amsterdam, Mo; three sisters, Maudie Smith of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Josephine Hockett of Adrian, Eula Manser of Butler; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Feb. 14 at the Underwood-Steinbeck-Schowengerdt Chapel in Butler with Charles Surbough officiating and burial in the Adam Howell Cemetery near Butler.
