Clarence Joseph Gilbeau, 73, of Lodi, died in a local hospital Wednesday following a sudden illness.
He was born in Lodi and lived here all his life. Mr. Gilbeau was a manager for the Glidden Paint Company for 10 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was past grand knight of the third degree of the Knights of Columbus No. 8709. He was also a past faithful navigator of the O'Conner General Assembly of the fourth degree of Knights of Columbus and a member of the Lodi Boat and Ski Club and the Ghost Riders of Good Sam Club of Modesto. He was past president of the Lodi Chapter Good Sam Club and an assistant state director of the Northern California Good Sam Club.
He is survived by his wife Mary S. Gilbeau of Lodi; a son James C. Gilbeau of Lodi; two daughters, Barbara J. Gini and Susan M. North, both of Stockton; one sister, Gladys Howard of Elk Grove; two brothers, Frank D. Gilbeau of San Andreas and Joseph J. Gilbeau of Palos Verdes; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Visitation will be from noon today until 8 p.m. Sunday at Gierhart & Wells Funeral Home and from 9:30-10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anne's Catholic Church building fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
