Memorial Services for Corp. W. Diefenthaler
The St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church will have memorial services on Sunday for Corporal Wilber J. Diefenthaler, aged 22, twin son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Diefenthaler. Wilbur died in a hospital in Germany on February 21, 1945, while being held a prisoner of war. Rev. E. L. Worthman will conduct the services, and the Kiel Kasper Post No 99, American Legion will attend in a body.
T/5 Willard F. Diefenthaler, twin brother of the deceased, arrived here on May 1st, to spend a 60-day furlough. He arrived home less than a month after his parents received word from the International Red Cross of the death of his brother. At the time of Wilbur's death the whereabouts of Willard was unknown to his parents.
