***** I served with Jimmy for the entire time he was in V.N. I guess what I still remember about him after all these years, was how good natured he was. We were both suppose to go home in Aug. of 1970, but Jimmy decided to extend for 60 days so he could get out of the Army when he left V.N. I decided to not extend and when I was processing out I found out about his death. While I probably never would have seen him again even if he had left with me, at least the waste of his youth would not still be on my mind.

***** He was my best buddy in high school. a finer young man you could never know. he was everyone's friend and everyone's helper. just a few days before i have written this i visited with his mother and sister at the traveling wall memorial in fort smith Arkansas. the love for my friend overshadowed the tears which we shared as the candle was lighted for each of our local fallen hero's. lest we not forget, there are a 1000 stories for each name, and we must tell them as often as we can. so that it may never happen again.
