Toots, was nicknamed before her mother decided on a name. Her father said...You can name her whatever you want, but to me, she will always be "Toots". She attended Elementary schools in Olean and Allegany, NY. In late 1929 her parents and two brothers (Everett and Gerald) moved to Torrance Calif. where she graduated from Torrance High School in 1934. Would like to note that she was a lifelong friend of a famous graduate of Torrance High School, (and also born in Olean) Louis Zamperini (Findagrave #132269800). The family returned to Olean in 1934. On June 26, 1936 at the First Methodist Church Parsonage in Olean, she married William Edward Weitzel. She worked in Olean at Freitag's, Olean Tile Co., Olean Reactance Plant, Sibly & Graham Insurance Co. and retired from the Olean General Hospital Cafeteria Dept. in August 1975. She loved her Husband, two sons(Mark and Bill), Family, Friends, all types of good music, Reading, Sewing, playing the Ukulele, humor, chatting, writing to friends, Relatives and the Times Herald Newspaper. She was a life member of the Torrance High School Alumni Association, a charter member of the Olean Historical Society, a member of the Olean Senior League, Olean General Hospital Retirees Association, the Christ United Methodist Church and was active in the Johnny Appleseed Festivals. She passed away of natural causes at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Probably about the only thing that would have saddened her was not passing away in her beloved Olean. She was Creamated and her ashes are buried with the love of her life, her husband Bill.
