Born July 4, 1925, in Rush County, he was the son of Fred and Beatrice (Austin) Osborne, both deceased. He married Betty Spacey; she preceded him in death.
Mr. Osborne was a 1944 graduate of New Salem High School. He was an aviation cadet in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in June 1947. He attended Cornell University and then moved back to Rush County, where he began his career with the National Life & Accident Insurance Company in Rushville. He retired as vice president of the company after 38 years of service and was, at the time of his retirement, responsible for the West Coast operation. Later he founded Insurance Systems of Tennessee. He was a member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tenn., and the Hillwood Country Club in Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Osborne (and wife Pam) of Memphis, Tenn., and Brad Osborne (and wife Anne) of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Bob Osborne of Rush County and George Osborne of Indianapolis; two sisters, Betty Dickey and Wilna Chance, both of Rush County; and four grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael O'Bannon officiating. Roesch-Patton-Austin-Bracey-Charlton Funeral Home, Broadway Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Private entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum in Nashville, Tenn.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belle Meade United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
