HENDERSON, TX - Funeral service for Robert Lee Durr, Sr. will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 24, 2010 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Bennie Durr officiating. Interment will follow at Ajax Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mr. Durr, 93 years of age, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Tyler, Texas. He was born August 21, 1916 in Ajax, LA to the late Robert Jackson Durr and late Minnie Bell Durr. He touched the lives of many people as a minister, pastor, school teacher, and juvenile probation officer. He will be dearly missed but remembered for being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Virginia Durr of Henderson, TX; brother, Boyd Durr of Natchitoches; nine children, Bennie Durr and wife Viola of Cincinnati, OH, Robert Durr and wife Anna of Anchorage, AK, Linda Wehner and husband Clyde of Grand Junction, CO, David Durr and wife Dino of Shreveport, LA, Patsy Atcheson and husband A.J. of Woodbury, GA, Daniel Durr and wife Mary of Shreveport, LA, Deborah Robinson and husband Roby of Atlanta, TX, Nathan Durr and wife Rhonda of Lancaster, OH, Regene Tullus and husband Mike of Houston, TX; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixty-one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Lee Stewart Durr and two great grandchildren.
