"Rev. Thomas West was born in Tisbury, Dukes, Massachusetts to Abner West (1683-1756) and Jane Look (1680-1765). Thomas was a clergyman and graduated Harvard College in 1730, and then again with a master's degree in 1750. He becomes Pastor of the Congregational Church in Rochester around 1753, and serves until 1781 when he is 73 years of age. He preached to the Indians and probably served as minister to the English at Homes Hole until removal in 1753 to North Rochester. His Will, dated December 9, 1788 was probated October 5, 1790 (Plymouth Probate XXXI, 274).

Thomas was married to Drusilla Presbury (1708-1778) about 1728 and had all of his children with her. 8 months after Drusilla dies, Rev. Thomas marries Priscilla Sprague (1708-1778). When Priscilla dies, Rev. Thomas marries Deborah Foster (1710-1788) in 1780."

Inscription

Weep ye, my friends, for West is gone, His glass of time cloth cease to run, His active tongue and virtuous heart have ceased to act. They've done thier part. Although he's gone he yet doth live, His soul immortal cloth survive. He's now disrobed of earthly clay. And shines in one eternal day.
